New arrivals
Individuals and families navigating their first months in a new country, often with little English and few local ties.
Nonprofit · Los Gatos, California · San Francisco Bay Area
The Moayed Family Foundation supports refugees and immigrants in the Bay Area as they overcome barriers to housing, language, work, legal status, education, and emotional well-being—so they can become self-sufficient and thrive in the communities they now call home.
Moayed Family Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit born from our founders’ own immigrant experience. We focus on practical help and human connection for people who arrive with urgent needs and limited resources.
Based in Los Gatos, we concentrate our efforts across the San Francisco Bay Area, where many refugees and immigrants seek safety and a new start. We combine direct assistance, volunteers, and partnerships so families can stabilize, integrate, and move toward independence.
We exist for refugees and immigrants who may face financial strain, language barriers, complex legal paths, interrupted schooling, and the weight of trauma from war, persecution, or abuse. Our goal is simple: help people stabilize, connect with their communities, and build independent, hopeful lives in the United States.
Meet urgent practical needs so families can focus on the next step.
Support language, school, and work so people can participate fully.
Connect families to skills, legal clarity, and long-term opportunity.
We prioritize refugees and immigrants in the Bay Area—especially families with children, young adults pursuing education, and anyone carrying trauma from displacement. If you are starting over after violence, imprisonment, torture, or abuse, we want you to know you are not alone.

Caregivers seeking school enrollment, health paperwork, and a safe routine for their kids.
Students aiming for community college and vocational paths toward sustainable careers.
Community members who want to learn, volunteer, and help build a more welcoming Bay Area.
Our work blends direct aid, skilled volunteers, and professional partners—including attorneys and therapists—so help reaches families where they need it most.
Short-term support to help individuals and families secure stable shelter while they work toward self-sufficiency.
Financial help for English classes at local community colleges, plus educational support for young adults at two-year schools.
Connections through a volunteer network in trades such as construction, electrical, plumbing, janitorial services, hairstyling, and related fields.
Support around Social Security numbers, work permits, driver’s licenses, and the path to U.S. citizenship.
Assistance with therapy costs for people coping with trauma from displacement and persecution.
Help with forms, physicals, and immunizations so children can enroll and thrive in local schools.
Meetings and outreach that promote inclusion, reduce stigma, and highlight the contributions of refugees and immigrants.
In practice, support may look like temporary housing funds, ongoing language assistance, help with legal fees, therapy subsidies, school enrollment for children, and academic support for community college students—always paired with caring volunteers and professionals.
We also gather with neighbors to share our mission, celebrate progress, and invite the wider community into a shared vision of welcome.
The foundation grows through people who give time, skills, and voice. Whether you can mentor in a trade, assist with events, or help spread the word, your contribution matters.
Our organization is volunteer-powered. Officers and directors serve without compensation, alongside teammates with experience in medicine, marketing, fundraising, operations, and employment networks—all supporting day-to-day activities and long-term goals.
Your gift helps cover housing, classes, legal and therapy fees, school costs, and community programs. Every donation extends dignity and practical hope to families rebuilding their lives.
